Negotiating

Tips for a successful negotiation in china

  1. Make sure you are negotiating with the correct person who can make a decision. Just because they speak English does not mean they can make a decision on prices
  2. Understand that negotiating can take some time
  3. Do not appear to be over enthusiastic or in a hurry to order goods
  4. The key to success is choosing the correct supplier  in the first place, if you do not feel that this company is 100% professional DON’T order… move on to another
  5. Put all the details in to a contract that’s in written in Chinese and English and make sure drawings and all specifications are noted
  6. Make sure you have got prices from other companies for the same products before you start face to face negotiations.
  7. Make sure you know what the goods will actually cost to make such as the cost for the raw materials
  8. Never pay for the total cost of the goods upfront
  9. If molds need to be made and payed for outline in the contract who owns the molds
  10. Remember to focus on quality not just price
