- Make sure you are negotiating with the correct person who can make a decision. Just because they speak English does not mean they can make a decision on prices
- Understand that negotiating can take some time
- Do not appear to be over enthusiastic or in a hurry to order goods
- The key to success is choosing the correct supplier in the first place, if you do not feel that this company is 100% professional DON’T order… move on to another
- Put all the details in to a contract that’s in written in Chinese and English and make sure drawings and all specifications are noted
- Make sure you have got prices from other companies for the same products before you start face to face negotiations.
- Make sure you know what the goods will actually cost to make such as the cost for the raw materials
- Never pay for the total cost of the goods upfront
- If molds need to be made and payed for outline in the contract who owns the molds
- Remember to focus on quality not just price
